Salma Abugideiri, LPC

I have been practicing as a counselor since 1995, serving individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. I have experience working in non-profit agencies, as well as in private practice. I also provide supervision, training and consultation.

I use a strength-based approach that combines my knowledge and experience working with a variety of counseling models. I prefer to focus on each person's strengths and capacity to find solutions that fit each unique situation.

About Us
Valia Shoja, MA

I take a collaborative and integrative approach in assisting clients in personal healing and transformation. We will work together to understand your life journey, process complex feelings, and develop skills needed in order to break negative patterns and habits. My primary counseling areas include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, trauma, multicultural issues, adjustment issues, and relationship issues.

I have had various volunteer assignments with different agencies such as IRC working closely with refugees.  As an immigrant, I strongly believe in addressing socioeconomic and multicultural factors. I provide counseling in English and Persian.

My clients describe me as a warm and compassionate therapist who uses humor and genuine interactions in her practice. My priority is to provide a validating, non-judgmental, and healing space for my clients to feel valued, heard, and empowered.

I like to integrate a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Person-Centered, Internal Family System (IFS), Positive Psychology, and Motivational Interviewing (MI) in a safe and empathetic space.

I am extremely passionate about empowering people toward healing. I like to help people work towards the best version of themselves and gain independence by pushing past their limitations.

Fatima Mirza, Ph.D., LCSW

I enjoy working with clients who are looking for meaning and healing in their lives. This means that I endeavor to get a sense of your worldview and your goals and then work with you to build a life that gives you joy. I have experience working with adult survivors of direct and indirect trauma (relational, emotional, physical, sexual, spiritual, and racial) from a variety of backgrounds and religious traditions.

I enjoy supporting moms of young children, older teens (16+), young adults, members of the clergy, and families of clergy members. I use a variety of theoretical orientations, pulling heavily from attachment theories, body-based interventions, art methods, and action methods.

I work with teenagers, couples, and individuals on a wide range of issues, such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, and OCD. I have worked with Muslim immigrant and refugee populations for many years. I have also worked with trauma survivors since the start of my career. I’m a good fit for those seeking spiritual integration into their therapy.

Maryam Fakhruddin, LMSW

My practice is grounded in a client-centered, strength-based lens, ensuring a safe and inclusive space. I use a range of therapeutic approaches, including mindfulness, parts work, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and narrative therapy. Whether you are seeking to overcome trauma, manage stress, or navigate life's transitions, I am here to support your journey towards resilience and well-being. Together, we can create a path to healing and empowerment.

I aim to use a systematic approach to therapy with individuals, couples, and families. This holistic approach considers the individual within the broader context of their relationships, helping to address the root causes of problems by exploring how interactions within our systems influence and shape our unique experiences and challenges. Everyone is different; therefore, I believe in taking an integrative, client-centered approach that focuses on the client’s strengths to meet therapy goals. I take an integrative approach to therapy depending on the client and their specific needs. Still, I am inclined toward using CBT, strengths-based therapy, narrative therapy, structural therapy, and Gottman methods. Overall, I provide a judgment-free, safe environment for my clients where, together, we can work toward growth and healing!
